I want to give you a deeper understanding of the whole picture God presents to us in his word. He calls this the simplicity that is in Christ, as it says in:
11Cor. 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtility, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
So if the word of God talks about another gospel, another spirit, and another Jesus, then there has to be one out there, right? But you cannot know a lie if you have never really understood the truth. That is where we are going to go here. What I want you to do, is forget for a few minutes, everything you have ever learned about God. Wipe the slate of your mind clean, just for a few minutes. The reason I say this, is if you have been taught something that is wrong, it will get in the way of what I want to show you. Don’t worry, I am not going to try to teach you something that is not proven 100% in the bible. But, if you have preconceived ideas that do not line up with the truth in the word, it will mess you up in your understanding.
The bible is really very simple, once you get the whole picture. Man, in his way of trying to explain God, over the centuries, has complicated things, mainly, because he has tried to explain something he did not understand to begin with. That is why we have so many doctrines in our churches. Man uses his imagination to explain things he doesn’t understand. That is just human nature. But God wants us to see things his way, and only his way. When we do we will start to see things in a whole new light, his. It all started when God spoke his first words, as the world was being created.
Gen. 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
From these two scriptures, we get a small picture. There are two faces. One has the Spirit of God on it and the other has darkness on its face. One is the waters, while the other is the deep. So here you see, before anything else, there was the waters, and the deep.
Then in verse 3 things change. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
The first thing that happened was that God spoke, then things started happening, but not until he spoke. When God spoke, let there be light, there was light, automatically. That is how he created. By speaking the words. That is how powerful his words are. But think about it for a moment. He had not created the stars, or the sun, or the moon yet. They were not created until after the third day.
Verse 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from he night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
From this, there seems to be a discrepancy, or is there. Light was created at least twice, from what these scriptures are saying. There is a reason. You have physical light, and you have spiritual light. They are not the same. The first light is the spiritual light, which is the word itself, while the second is the physical lights we see in the heavens, at night and in the daytime. Let us take a look at this in the scriptures.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
So here you see that the word itself did the creating, but it was also part of God, and without that word, nothing would have been made that was made.
Verse 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. So the life is in the word, but it also gives us light. Spiritual light.
Verse 14 And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Since Jesus Christ is the Word of God, when God spoke, Jesus came out, and it was later, that he was made flesh, because nothing was made without him. So Jesus Christ was here from the very first word that God spoke, because he is the word. I hope you are still with me, but if you are getting confused, please bear with me, and hopefully the picture will get clearer for you.
Verse 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
God’s word teaches us about himself, and declares the goodness of the Lord. The Word came out of the Father’s bosom, as he spoke, so Jesus was in the bosom of the Father from the beginning.
John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceedeth forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Words do not come out by themselves. They are forced out by the one who speeks them. When you speak words, where do they come from? From inside of you, don’t they? And who’s words are they, if your name if Fred, then they are Fred’s words. Even after you spoke them, they were still Fred’s words.
For an example, suppose you give your word to someone, saying you will fulfill an obligation to them. They then, ask you to put it in writing. So you do, they are still Fred’s words, but now you have formed them into letters to write them down, with your hand. No other name can be put on those words, unless someone steels them and claims them to be there’s, but even then, you still know they are Fred’s words.
Let us look at God the same way. When he created the world, he spoke it into existence. He formed the word, and it came out of him, but with God, it is a little bit different, because his words have so much power, they can create things just by speaking them, and they did. So God created the world by speaking it into existence.
He also formed Adam of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Again, here, we see that life came from within God, as he breathed it into him. That is in Genesis 2:7. Because of God’s breath, man became a living soul. Along with the breath of life, God also gave Adam a commandment. For this we go to:
Gen. 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
God gave him his word, that he would die, if he ate of that tree. When God creates with his word, then you better listen, if he says you will die, then you will die. God can not go back on his word, because his word is truth. When Adam and Eve ate of the tree that he commanded them not to eat of, they spiritually died. Since God is a spirit, to him, spiritual death is what is important, because it is a separation from him. They not only chose to believe the serpents words over God’s, but they also chose to obey his words over God’s. It was totally their choice, just like it is our choice now.
But because God is a God of mercy, and cannot go back on his own word, he had to figure out a way for us to still have a chance to get back to him. Disobedience to his words got them thrown out of the garden, so obedience to his words could be the only way to get them back to him. Since they were too week to obey when temptation came, God decided to form his own words into the flesh body of Jesus Christ. Just like you would write your words down on a piece of paper, God wrote his down in the flesh of his son.
But that is not all, since his words came out from within him, part of him goes with his words, just like part of you goes out with your words as you speak them. When you speak, a vapour and wind comes out of your own body to force those words out. It was part of you before you spoke, just like the vapour and wind came out of God to give Adam the breath of life, that same vapour came out of him to speak his words, it all came out of the same place.
If they had obeyed God’s words from the beginning, they would have never been thrown out of the garden. So the obedience of his words, also, should give them life again. Since part of God was going to be with his words as he formed them into the flesh of his son, his son would have his strength to overcome the temptations the devil would tempt him with.
The word had to be formed into flesh, because flesh is what was tempted in the garden, so flesh had to be involved in the battle to win us back, because flesh had to come out stronger than the devil, no matter what he did to it. God knew that his own strength, with that flesh, would be able to overcome anything the devil had to offer, even as that flesh was crucified. But along with that, Jesus also had to be obedient unto death to God’s word. That is why he had to follow the law all the way. They were commands of God. That is also why he had to get baptized by John.
Math. 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Chapter 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Just like when we first come to God, the devil gets his chance to tempt us, to draw us away from God. He is the accuser of the brethren.
Rev. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
But because Jesus Christ overcame his temptations to the death, without sining, his flesh was perfected for us, so we also would once again, have a chance to get back to God through his sinless flesh. Just like God was in the flesh of Jesus Christ, because he is his own word, and he gave him the power to overcome sin and death, we also, can overcome the same by Jesus flesh in us, which is his word, and by testifying about him with his own words. The overcoming power that he had from God, is passed on to us through his word, when we consume it, and keep it in our hearts. But most importantly, we must obey it. If we do not we will not get back to heaven, and we will get to spend eternity with the same deceiver that got us thrown out of the garden to begin with.
Jesus came here to give us that second chance to be with him and his Father. Our jobs are to testify of him to everyone we can, so they also will have a chance to get back to God. Each time we witness to someone else of the awesomeness of God, we could very well be saving that person from eternity in the flames of fire in hell. Part of God was in Jesus, because he is his own words, and that is how he kept him from sinning from his youth up.
When it was time to give him the power of his position, the first thing that happened after he received the Holy Spirit, was temptation from the devil. Part of Jesus is in us when we take his words into our hearts, and obey them. Because the word of God is part of God, Jesus had an automatic inheritance in the kingdom of God, because the words he was formed of were part of the kingdom of God to begin with. But he had to also obey those words in order to receive his kingdom inheritance.
If we want an inheritance, we must also do the same. And when we testify about those same words we bring people to God through the very words that God gave Jesus, as his son. If he is part of the kingdom of God, we also become a part of the kingdom of God, and share in his inheritance through his word once again. We reproduce, bringing others to God by the same words we received. That is why the word is called a seed. When you plant that word in someone’s heart, it begins to grow, and when they are strong, he gives them even more of himself, so they will continue testifying of him, again, and have his strength to do so.
2 Cor. 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Verse 11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
If you are lost, it is because of unbelief, which is instigated by the serpent. He does not want you to see the truth, the light, because you will no longer belong to him, and he will loose his power over you. You see from these scriptures that the gospel of Christ is the spiritual light that shines, and what is the gospel, other than the word of God, Jesus Christ., the image of God.
Ps. 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Again, here you see God’s words are light.
Ps. 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
His words not only are light, but they also give us light.
