In The Beginning Was The Word
Genesis !:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And
God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
So if I have the word, and the word is God, then I have God, if I believe that word is God, and obey it, like it says to. Since man’s disobedience of God’s word, got man thrown out of the garden, then the only way for us to get back to the garden, must be, by us obeying the word of God, no matter what happens to us, as the result of that obedience.
Gen. 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
His soul received life by the breath of God.
Gen. 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
So, man was formed of dust, God gave man his breath, which was life, and man became a living soul. Then God gave man a commandment to obey, with death as the penalty of disobedience. Did the breath of life get taken away when man disobeyed God? Lets find out.
Ps23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
I want you to notice two things from this scripture. One, the soul needed to be restored, and two, thy rod and thy staff gives me comfort.
Rom. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
The scriptures comfort us, and reveal the commandments of God.
In Jer. 32:21 we see, God brought the Israelites out of Egypt with signs, wonders, and a strong hand, and gave them the promise land.
But see what happened because of disobedience in Jer. 32:23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:
After receiving the promise land, they chose to not obey God’s voice, and evil came upon them because of that disobedience. If we as Christians, do not obey God’s word, evil will also come upon us. It already happened in the Garden of Eden and to the Israelites in the promise land. Disobedience results in death, and the loss of the promise of God.
1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. Verse 7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
Hebr. 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
If you really believe the word is true, you will stand up for it, to the very death, if need be. Can you pass that test of faith? Do you know the word of God enough yet, to do that?
11Cor. 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the Excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. Verse 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
Now lets find out what the life of Jesus is, and how it can be made manifest in our bodies.
Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Ps. 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Eph. 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Here we see that the breath of God gives us life, he creates in us a clean heart instead of the dirty sin filled heart we did have, as Christ dwells in our hearts by faith, and it is possible for us to be filled with all the fullness of God. Wow.
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
So the word of God gives us life.
John 6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Verse 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. Verse 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
We see this again in verse 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. In verse 63 the Spirit quickeneth.
Ps. 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
Again, the words are spirit, and they quicken. Some say the written word does not have the power of life and death, but Jesus rebuked the devil, by saying it is written, speaking those written words to him, showing that those written words have power, in Luke 4:4.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Verse 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Jesus told them that the spirit of truth, through himself, was dwelling with them and shall be in them, and he would come to them as that comforter.
Verse 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Remember here John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
The darkness is the world and the people in it, who refuse to believe in his word, which makes their hearts hard, so the love of the truth cannot get in, The love of the world and the things in it, can blind us to the truth, and the love of God.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Rom. 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Verse 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Verse 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
So what is the power of God?
Rom. 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
So the Gospel is the power of God.
11Cor. 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
1 Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Here again, the spirit of God speaks.
11 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
1Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The word of God was raised from the dead on the third day, went to heaven, received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, and returned to earth to show the deciples his hands and his side. Adam lost part of himself from his side, for the forming of his bride, Jesus Christ, the second Adam gave of himself the water and blood from his side, to provide life for his bride, the church.
Jesus came to his bride the church, and breathed on the deciples the breath of life, and gave them his peace, as it says in John 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
For 40 days he proved, how he had fulfilled the scriptures as he said he would, and taught them that they too, could live again from the dead. He then returned to heaven and sat on the right hand of God, as the book of life, to wait till God made his enemies his footstool.
Is. 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Verse 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
They saw the tongues of fire, and heard the voice of words. Jesus body, his word, his spiritual flesh, rained down from heaven that day. Through his body being rained down on them, they became part of his body, his bride.
Job 12:9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this? 10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
In that hand of God, is the book of life, the word of God, Jesus Christ, that restores all our souls, and the breath of life for all of mankind, By believing those words, and obeying them, that life becomes ours once again. His living soul restores our souls. The word recreates us back into the spiritual image of God, which is Jesus Christ. As his bride, we become bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, through consuming his flesh, which is his word. And through it, we become bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, as we literally become his body.
When his word is in us, he is in us, and we are in him. If he is in us, and sits on the right hand of the Father, so do we, automatically. The water of the word of God will wash away all our sin, if we allow it to convict us, change us, and replace our dead flesh, with his living flesh, as it recreates us all over again, in his perfect image.
